The start for any QA/QC program for a compounding pharmacy must begin with the most important aspect of the business - the chemicals we use to compound your customized prescription.

Hook's Apothecary strives to purchase all of our chemicals from the best source of quality chemicals in the United States - Professional Compounding Centers of America (PCCA). PCCA has established itself as the leader of pharmaceutical compounding and we are proud to be members of this organization. PCCA has unparalleled extensive QA & QC procedures for procuring chemicals. As an FDA registered facility for re-selling chemicals, PCCA is only required to obtain a Certificate of Analysis (COA) from the chemical manufacturer in order to re-pack the chemical and sell it. However, how does a chemical supplier know what is listed on the COA actually applies to the chemical they received? There is no guarantee a mistake may not have been made or worse, the chemical manufacturer falsifies statements on the COA. Therefore, PCCA performs its own in-house testing on EVERY chemical received to ensure the correct chemical has been received and the chemical is of the highest quality. PCCA routinely refuses dozens of chemicals every year because they do not meet their strict standards.

What does this mean for you? Basically, you can be assured you are receiving the highest quality chemicals in the compounds you receive from Hook's Apothecary. While other compounding pharmacies may be less expensive than Hook's, can you be assured they are not cutting corners by buying from less reputable chemical suppliers? Quality does come at a price.
